An afterlife office comedy
Welcome to Morbius Inc., the company responsible for processing your soul once you’ve died. Their job is to get you to walk through the door and move on. And like every good company, they have a fearless leader: the newly appointed Chief Angel of Death (CAD) Angelica, who has spent nearly a century rising through the ranks from Associate Angel of Death to Vice Angel of Death and is shot to the top as the current CAD decides to retire.
There is no good time for a power shift (death waits for no man), but this is a particularly rough transition as they’ve just taken on three interns. While their bodies are in comas back on Earth, these souls are go-for’s to Angelica and her associates. Among them is Jacob, a struggling musician with a distinctly anti-corporate vibe. As he grapples with this newfound understanding of the afterlife, he finds he is actually a perfect fit for the department...and for Angelica.
Angelica will struggle to establish herself at the apex of the pyramid with the help of her friend and assistant Leeland, who was poisoned in the 1950’s and reunited with his dog in the afterlife, and the unenthused Renee, a teen killed while working at a local carnival due to a tragic bouncy castle deflation. Herbert, a stockbroker who killed himself in the crash of ‘29, cannot grasp why she got the promotion and he didn’t. After all, he’s a man.
At its core, this is a show about equality - after all, death is the great equalizer.
